Happy 197th birthday to our founder, James G. Batterson. Mr. Batterson led quite a life innovating within the insurance industry. He introduced the U.S. to casualty insurance back in 1863 (that’s 157 years ago 🤯 ), wrote the country’s first accident policy in 1864, the world’s first automobile contract in 1897 and pioneered the introduction of safety measures in industrial establishments. Talk about an innovator. In 1965, almost 64 years after his death, Mr. Batterson was inducted into the Insurance Hall of Fame (yes, there is such a thing). Kudos to you, Mr. Batterson. Thanks for starting a tradition of innovation. 💡
